  1. Create account at https://ifttt.com/
  2. https://ifttt.com/create
  3. Click on blue ‘+ this’
  4. Search for Alexa and select ‘Amazon Alexa’; you will be asked to install it if not already installed
  5. Look for ‘Say a specific phrase’ and select that
  6. Enter the phrase you want Alexa to do (e.g. ‘tincan’; you will say ‘Alexa trigger tincan’)
  7. Click on the blue ‘+ that’
  8. Enter ‘maker’ in the search box and select ‘Maker’
  9. Select ‘Make a web request’
  10. Fill out the web request form, based on your action needs; in my case, I just entered a hosted PHP file that triggers a static xAPI call; I’ll be looking at custom fields next
  11. Test it out with Alexa – “Alexa trigger tincan”
  12. Celebrate your xAPI goodness
